Motherwell boss Mark McGhee er blevet anbefalet af afrejsende Celtic manager Gordon Strachan som hans afløser på Parkhead, BBC Sport forstår.
Strachan trådte tilbage i kølvandet på hans undladelse af at vinde en fjerde successive Scottish Premier League titel.
McGhee, der har tilbragt fire år spiller for Celtic i 1980'erne, har imponeret på Well, som var tredje i 2007-08 SPL sæsonen at kvalificere sig til UEFA Cup.
Bookmakere har West Brom manager Tony Mowbray ned som favorit til posten.
Mowbray, en tidligere Celtic-afspiller, imponeret fans på Hawthorns trods klubben bliver henvist fra Premier League denne sæson, og også på tidligere klub Hibernian på grund af hans angribe mærke af fodbold.
